Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance is one of the top ten threats to public health as recognised by World Health Organisation. Increasing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) day by day will lead to a new  Postantibiotic Era as most of the available and newer antibiotics in pipeline will be dried up because of  incresing AMR.So the risk of increase in morbidity and mortality will be there because of contact of  fatal microbial infections not curable with available antibiotics. So there is urgent need of Antimicrobial stewardship Programmes  (AMSP) in the health institutions.
